2017 Mylan WTT Season Dates Released
The Breakers will begin their quest for a second Mylan WTT Championship on July 16, 2017. The Orange County franchise reached their fourth final during the 2016 season but were unable to take down the rival San Diego Aviators in the title match.
Although the match schedule likely won't be finalized until late March, the Breakers are guaranteed to host seven regular season matches in 2017 and play a total of 14 during the 2017 slate. The 2017 Mylan WTT regular season is set to wrap up on August 2 and features a return of a full league schedule that was briefly shortened in 2016 due to the Olympic tennis competition in Rio.
The 2016 Breakers squad featured top ranked American and local favorite Steve Johnson along with the Mylan WTT Female MVP Nicole Gibbs. Gibbs and Johnson were complemented by the 2015 Female Rookie of the Year Alla Kudryavtseva, the 2011 French Open Mixed Doubles Champion Scott Lipsky and former UCLA star Dennis Novikov. Rick Leach, the 2015 Mylan WTT Coach of the Year, returned for his 15th season in the league and third at the helm for the Breakers.
The Breakers, who have protection rights to the above players should they select to play Mylan WTT in 2017, will look to add additional talent in 2017 during the upcoming Mylan WTT Draft, which is set to take place during the BNP Paribas Open on March 14.
Season ticket, group and venue information will be released by early February and 2016 Breakers Season Ticket Holders will once again be offered an exclusive presale and first right of refusal on the seats they held last season.
